Route linking Montearagón Castle and the Vadiello reservoir, combining medieval heritage with spectacular Sierra de Guara landscapes
Descripción larga
The Abadiado Route allows visitors to discover two of the great attractions of the Hoya de Huesca region: the historic Montearagón Castle and the stunning natural setting of Vadiello. The itinerary begins at Montearagón Fortress, built by King Sancho Ramírez as a strategic stronghold during the Reconquest and later transformed into an influential monastery that controlled much of the surrounding territory.

The route continues towards the Vadiello reservoir, one of the most iconic landscapes of the Sierra y Cañones de Guara. Surrounded by spectacular rock formations such as the Mallos de Ligüerri, El Puro and Pico Borón, this natural area is renowned for its scenic beauty and for being home to numerous birds of prey, including griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures.

The itinerary combines history, heritage, nature and exceptional panoramic views over the Guatizalema river gorges, offering an ideal experience to discover the cultural and natural richness of Alto Aragón.
